Western Kentucky University (WKU) is Bowling Green’s sole public university. Offering bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, WKU offers 170 undergraduate programs through six colleges, including the Potter College of Arts & Letters and the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences. The Graduate School offers 80 degree and certificate programs in areas such as education, teaching, science, accounting, and public administration. In 2014, WKU ranked 11th on U.S. News and World Report’s list of top public colleges.
At the community college level, Bowling Green offers Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC). There are more than 20 programs available at the associate’s degree and certificate levels, including programs in culinary arts, medical information technology, engineering technology, and nursing. Online Colleges in Bowling Green
Offered through the Division of Extended Learning & Outreach, WKU Online offers 1,500 online courses and 60 online degree programs. Online programs at WKU include associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degree programs, as well as graduate certificate programs. Many online courses are delivered in an on-demand format in which students can begin courses any day of the year, rather than on a semester basis. A major perk of WKU Online is that students receive in-state tuition rates for online courses.
SKYCTC is part of the Kentucky Virtual Campus, a network of all 16 colleges within the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. SKYCTC offers its online courses and programs through the Kentucky Virtual Campus. The online Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees are transferable to eight Kentucky colleges and universities, including WKU, Kentucky State University, and University of Kentucky.
