Spotlight Armstrong Atlantic State University, Savannah, Georgia
Students at Armstrong Atlantic State University can take advantage of online and blended programs that are taught by the same faculty as traditional classes. Online programs award undergraduate and graduate degrees, certificates and teaching endorsements. Two online graduate programs are available: a master’s degree in education, emphasizing curriculum and instruction, and a master’s degree in criminal justice. Online certificate programs are offered at the undergraduate level — for example, criminal justice — or the graduate level, as in cyber crime studies.
Undergraduate degree programs include a fully online RN-to-BSN option as well as bachelor’s degree completion programs in other health care-related fields. Certain online programs have a clinical component to build hands-on experience in subjects such as medical laboratory science or radiologic sciences. A career-focused bachelor’s degree program in respiratory science satisfies the clinical aspect of training through supervision at the facility where the student is employed. To increase accessibility for working adults, this program also allows students to petition for equivalency credits based on their prior experience.
In addition to its online degree and certificate programs, Armstrong Atlantic State University provides a broad range of individual classes with distance learning features. Fully online courses at the school can include an on-campus component of up to 4 percent of total class hours, while hybrid courses offer 50 percent or less of instruction online. Fully online classes could span diverse areas like anthropology, biology, economics, English, database design, history, math, medical terminology, nursing and psychology.
